Ice Storm of 2007

Winter has decided to slam into us again this year. It's funny because every 4 to 5 years we seem to get hit with a major ice storm! The last one was in November of 2002. During that particular storm we were without electricity for 10 days. It was truly a hard thing to go through.

Luckily, this time is no where near as bad! There are only a couple of similarities this time, the sound of the tree limbs snapping and the off and on flashing of transformers blowing up in the middle of the night. I have to admit as scary as it is to see, it is quite beautiful! The sky lights up with a brilliant blue and then you hear a surge in the power, everything flickers and either you lose your lights or they come back on. You just never know...

This year, I have managed to keep my electricity. I have heard it is because we are on the same circuits as the fire station next door so I am very thankful. Although this morning we kept losing the power and we lost our phone for about 5 hours. My sister and my parents aren't more than 2 minutes from me and they have been without power since 5:30 this morning. They have all decided to check into hotels for the night. I am extremely thankful for not having that expense. I offered to let them crash here but they want their privacy and I cannot blame them.

Tonight is supposed to be another brief round of the stuff. It has been raining all day long and it should be freezing so there should be quite a bit of ice come tomorrow morning. So driving to work tomorrow should be loads of fun!

Well I am off, but I will leave you with this poem I found and some pictures I took off of my balcony this afternoon! I love the way the ice looks on the trees... You would never guess something so peaceful and beautiful could be so deadly...

An ice storm in the night
Reveals in morning light
A dazzling, wintry sight
Of frozen droplets bright

That cling to shrubs and trees
And glisten where they freeze –
A sight that’s sure to please
The one who looks and sees.

Still others will complain
About the freezing rain;
Indeed it is a bane
And something of a pain

For those who slip and slide
And wobble side to side
Or cannot get a ride –
Their patience can be tried!

But soon it will be past;
The thaw will come in fast.
The ice just cannot last.

Life Has It's Lessons And Everyone Should Be Informed!

Here are a few lessons in life we should all learn and live by... In the Immortal Words of 'School House Rock', remember "Knowledge is Power!"

LESSON #1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor.

Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel, "

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.
The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"

"It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.

"Great," the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story:
If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

LESSON #2
A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.

The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.

The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"

The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."

Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.

On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129

It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story:
If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

LESSON #3
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out.

The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world."

Puff! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life."

Puff! He's gone.

"OK, you're up! ," the Genie says to the manager.

The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

LESSON #4
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"

The eagle answered: " Sure , why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested.
All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

LESSON #5
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:
BullShit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

LESSON #6
A little bird was flying south for the Winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story:
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Have A Most Wonderful Day Everyone!

Monday

Blah...

Okay so I have disappeared for a brief time but I am back. :)

I have been sick over the last few days. Not just me but my family has been sick too. Everything from vomiting and diarrhea to double pneumonia and ear infections. I have had to deal with the 1st two which has made life very unpleasant. I hate throwing up more than anything in the world. It gives me a horrid headache.

So over the last few weeks life has just been life. Nothing exciting or new. Well my son did turn 14 a couple of weeks ago. Damn that makes me feel old :) All he wanted was a bunch of Mizzou stuff so that is exactly what he got. And then he got to go to the movies with some of his friends. He was happy though and that's all that matters.

I am just ecstatic though. My son has been doing great in school! Last year this time he was failing everything but with all of the changes in our lives over this past year he has improved greatly. A's and B's. He did have 2 C's but I can deal with those! Life is good in that respect!

Here are a couple of pictures of my nephews on Santa's lap.

I love seeing screaming kids on Santa's lap :) It reminds me of a picture of me and my sister. She was screaming her head off while I was looking perturbed! I need to find that picture cuz its a classic!

Well that's about all for now. I am going to head for my couch and stare at my tv as I feel like complete crap! Take care everyone!

Thursday

Gimme A Break!!!

One thing I love to do in the mornings is get up and read the news on the internet. It just seems to start off my day right you know???

Well this morning I was looking around and I see this headline:

'Santa Warned "Ho Ho Ho" Offensive To Women'

Hmmmm... I wonder what this is all about???

As it turns out, all of the Santa's in Sydney Australia are no longer allowed to say the famous words of 'Ho Ho Ho!' because Ho is an American slang word for prostitute and they don't want to offend women.

Are they serious???

But it gets better. Instead of 'Ho Ho Ho' they are being forced to say 'Ha Ha Ha'....

I am going to be sick...

Every kid you know has grown up to his 'Ho Ho Ho' for years and years and years so what gives them the right to change it??? Jackasses...

Honoring My Father

Yesterday was Veteran's Day. Yesterday was a day all veteran's should be remembered and honored for the service they have given to this great country of ours....

Here is to you Dad....Specialist 4th Class, Terry Sulzberger, 615 MP Company, 720th MP Battalion.

I Love You....

My father was actually on the news yesterday meeting the Governor of Missouri, Matt Blunt, and being given a medal of service. You can click here to watch it.

Friday

Finally Popped My Cherry

For years I always prided myself on having one thing that pretty much everyone in family didn't have. Wait, let me rephrase that, all of my family and all of my friends... **slackers** And that my friends is a perfectly, squeaky clean driving record.....

***SIGH***

Wednesday was the day from hell people. And I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that either. Murphy's Law was in full effect!!! So much so that I almost looked up ole' Murphy, went to his house and kicked the ever-lovin' shit out of him. Bastard!!!

Wednesday was called "Let's throw shit at Chalice Day and see exactly how she takes it!"

Well I took it well thank you.

But the one thing about Wednesday that stood out above everything else was this.... I got my first ticket from the police EVER!!! Can you believe it? 37 years old and I get my first ticket.

Now it's my own fault I got this ticket and it was because the tags on my car are expired. Yes I am actually admitting to this. It shouldn't be that way but none-the-less it is. So Michael and I are coming back from doing a few errands and we are pulling into my apartment complex and a cop passes us. I look in my rearview mirror to see him immediately turn around. Michael says, "Hurry up and go park!"

So I get to the parking spot and just as we got out of the car they stop behind me and yell through the speaker "GET BACK IN YOUR VEHICLE!"

Fuckers scared the shit out of me with this. I kept waiting for guns to be drawn because in this little town I live in they are known for just whipping them out for whatever reason but thankfully they didn't.

The cop came to my window and says, "I pulled you over because you are driving on expired tags and there is just no excuse for that!"

I thought. "Duh! Okay thanks dad!" But I politely handed him my license and so did Michael and he went back to his car. He came back and wrote me a ticket for the tags but as he was writing it up I tried to tell him what a good girl I normally was and that I had never had a ticket. I thought about crying since my day had already sucked to high heaven but I didn't! Damn it I just did not want that fucking ticket! I even thought about jumping out of the car and bowing at his feet just so I could stay unflawed but I knew my efforts would be futile!!!

I then enlightened him as to how much he scared the crap out of me with his "Get Back In The Vehicle!" thing. He actually chuckled a bit and said sorry but since he didn't know me from anyone else he had to stay safe.... **SIGH**

I am such a bad girl!!!

Now I gotta something else to pay... I love life but it's my own fault! I hate cars sometimes...

Tuesday

Rare and Hard To Find

If there is one thing is this world that always seems to bring back good memories it's watching old movies. They always remind you of hanging out with old friends or watching a movie late at night with your family.

For years I have searched high and low for a movie called "The Whoopee Boys". I use to watch this movie over and over again when I was a teenager with my best friend at the time, Jamie.

In this comedy, a relocation to Florida throws lowlife New Yorkers Barney (Paul Rodriguez) and Jake (Michael O'Keefe) into a dilemma when Jake falls for a beautiful schoolteacher, Olivia Farragut (Lucinda Jenney), who is struggling to find enough money to keep her school open. However, when they discover that Olivia stands to inherit a fortune, if only she will marry a true gentlemen, Jake decides to transform himself into the epitome of good breeding by going to charm school.
I have been driving Michael crazy by quoting lines from this movie for months and now I have finally found a place to purchase this rare movie. I found a site called MissedMovies.com. They don't have a tremendous amount of movies but they do have some very old and rare movies you cannot purchase anywhere around.

So in the spirit of driving Michael crazy, here is a little snip-it from the screenplay-

Barney: [at another party, Barney sees the same old lady, now holding a Shar-Pei in her arm] Hey, it's my favorite dog lady again! How you doing? You have a new dog?
Woman with Dogs: Yes, this is a Shar-Pei; it's a Chinese dog.
Barney: [Barney pulls on the dog's wrinkled skin] Damn, you need to iron this dog, lady. Look at this!
Woman with Dogs: No, stop, that's just how the dog is!
Barney: Shit, you could fit two dogs in here!
[he continues to pull on the dog's loose skin]
Woman with Dogs: [Slapping Barney's hand away] No! Please, stop abusing my dog, you horrible man!
Barney: You have any Vietnamese neighbors?
Woman with Dogs: No, I don't think so.
Barney: Well, if any ever move in, and you go on vacation, believe me, you're going to want to take Fluffy with you! You'll come back and your dog will be missing it's hind leg, saying 'where were you?'
Woman with Dogs: Oh! That's horrible! You terrible, horrible man!
Barney: You go next door and talk to your neighbor, and he'll be standing there, picking his teeth, 'No! We no see Fluffy! What your dog look like? Your dog have big, juicy hind leg?'
Woman with Dogs: Oh, you awful man! Please, go away!
Barney: Fine! I guess this means we can't be pals no more?

So this is my next purchase for myself. It's only $11.99 on DVD. And that is a freakin' bargain! On ebay you can buy the VHS tape for anywhere from $29.95 all the way to $100 all because it's so rare :) I love finding something I really love!

Ask and you shall receive! Isn't that what they always say???!!! Now enjoy a couple clips I found on YouTube!

Sunday

It's Fall

This morning I have gotten up and managed to find my way to the computer and have sat here looking out the window. The nice thing is that there are a ton of trees right outside so I get the pleasure of looking at the changing colors of the leaves on this lovely Sunday!!! And sitting here inspired me to play around with my desktop and make a few changes. So tell me what you think?

I thought making it look like a filmstrip was a little different and gave it a nice touch :)

So then I went looking at some poetry and found this...

Once upon an Autumn Day,
Colorful leaves began to fade.
In the midst of a chilly, frosty air
As a multitude of trees grew steadily bare.

Once upon an Autumn Day,
The whispering breeze was here to stay
Moving aimlessly through the countless trees
Scattering leaves with the greatest of ease.

Once upon an Autumn Day,
The leaves whirled freely in every way
Until at last they came to rest
Finding a haven in which to nest.

Once upon an Autumn Day,
The trees were dormant, and the leaves lay
Waiting for the winter snow to fall
To quickly obscure them one and all.

by Joseph T. Renaldi

I don't have much motivation to do anything else today because I pretty much feel like complete ca-ca. I think Michael has given me his illness so I must add giving him a swift kick to the ass to my list of things to do. I tell him not to breathe and he just doesn't listen... Go Figure!

So here I sit, sneezing my ass off, coughing like crazy, only able to breathe out of half of my head and my throat feels like it's on fire.

My Chiefs are currently on the TV playing against the Green Bay Packers and it truly isn't much of a game. We are losing. But considering the score is only 0 to 3, anything can happen right? Basically both offenses decided to stay home today.

Since I am pretty much just babbling with no where to really go with this post, I think I shall sign off now and hope for the best for my Chiefs. Green Bay scored another field goal making it now 6 to 0. Damn CheeseHeads! But there is still an entire half to go so we shall see :)

Have a fantastic day everyone!

UPDATE: Chiefs scored a touchdown with 7 seconds left in the half! There is HOPE!!! :)

Friday

The Things You See....

For me, driving to work is always interesting. It's mainly because my drive to work involves making my way through heavy congested traffic but also it's due to the fact I drive 40 minutes just to get there.

I always manage to see something which makes me laugh or shake my head. It doesn't matter if its the couple screaming at each other or the single guy who has a finger knuckle deep planted in his nose. It doesn't matter what it is, there is always something to see.

Yesterday was no exception. Unfortunately, My Michael was sick so I made the trek all-by-my-lonesome which I hate. I get so use to having someone there that when he isn't it drives me a little crazy. Especially when there is road construction everywhere with those annoying signs that say "Progess in Process" to indicate they are actually doing more than just making the drive unbearable! Whatever....

Anyway, I am about half-way to work when this huge flatbed truck with junk stacked in the back (the stack was a good 8 or 9 feet high mind you) suddenly loses control of its load and shit goes flying all over the interstate. Everything from metal to wood went everywhere. That's when the road became a little game of Dodge-Junk. Swerve to avoid hitting shit! If I would have gotten points, I would have felt trapped in a video game. It was a little scary. I can't lie about that.

A couple of minutes later I see this white car coming up ahead of me weaving back and forth in front of me. So I think, "Okay, get another lane over to get away from this guy!" Well when I get up beside the car, I look over and see something I have never ever seen while driving. There to my right was a man probably 65 years old, no hands on the steering wheel at all, playing a trumpet! Yes, I did say playing a trumpet! Both hands were seriously on this instrument and he was literally playing it! I only wish his window and mine would have been down so I could have yelled something but he probably wouldn't have noticed anyway since he didn't seem to notice HE WAS DRIVING A CAR!!! Crazy I tell you! Crazy!!!

Then 5 minutes later I am stuck in traffic. They closed 2 lanes of the 3 lane interstate for construction. I HATE THAT! So what did I do? Got off at the next exit and took the back roads to work.

My drive home was no different, well except there was no shit flying at my car and no trumpet playing old guy. Just dodging assholes who are so hell-bent on getting home they don't care about basically running people off the road.

But my conclusion was this. I should not have driven yesterday. I should have stayed home. I avoided accident after accident and it made me a little nuts.

Now I am about to get behind the wheel again and I am hoping today is a much better drive than yesterday!

Wednesday

It's Halloween!!!

Ahhh!!! Finally! It's Halloween! One of my favorite days of the year!

Sorry I have been so scarce lately but anyone who knows me understands that I literally camp out in front of the TV for hours around Halloween watching nothing but horror movie after horror movie. Doesn't matter if it's blood and guts or something psychological, if it's on or I can get it from Blockbuster, I am going to watch it! This year I have really outdone myself too. Last night alone I watched Poltergeist, Angel Heart and One Hour Photo. Tonight will be no different as I will probably immerse myself in some good old fashioned classics like Halloween and Friday the 13th!

I figured since I watched Poltergeist last night, I would post the myth and truths surrounding the deaths of some of the cast members! I love myths and urban legends....

Urban Legend: The Spielberg film "Poltergeist" was cursed with the deaths of cast members. This isn't really an Urban Legend but it is interesting since it's true. The film "The Exorcist" was also plagued with problems but that's another story.

The Story: An unusual amount of deaths have occurred around the three "Poltergeist" films, including three of the stars. These incidence have given way to rumors that the films were cursed because of their content. This seems a little silly, there are always explanations to "curses" like this. Or are there??

Two of the stars from the first film have died at young ages, two from the second film at not so young ages.

22-year old Dominique Dunne, who played older daughter Dana Freeling, died on November 4th,1982, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She had been choked into a coma by her boyfriend. Her boyfriend raced to her home while she was rehearsing a scene for a movie, dragged her outside, strangled her and left her in a brain-dead coma. Her family removed her from life support 5 days later.

12-year-old Heather O'Rourke died of septic shock on February 1st., 1988, at the Children's Hospital in San Diego, California. What was thought to be the flu turned out to be a bowel obstruction which caused toxins to enter her system. She died at Children's Hospital while undergoing surgery to remove the obstruction.

60-year-old Julian Beck, who played the evil preacher Kane in the second film, died of stomach cancer on September 14th,1985, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. Like Heather O'Rourke, he died during the period between filming and release, but in his case the film in question was Poltergeist II, which was released in May 1986. O'Rourke died before the release of Poltergeist III.

53-year-old Will Sampson, who played Taylor in the second film, died on June 3rd., 1987, in a Houston, Texas hospital after receiving a heart-lung transplant 6 weeks earlier. The cause of his death was attributed to severe pre-operative malnutrition and post-operative kidney failure along with a fungal infection.

Now, to finish up my post, I would like to post some costumes not to wear this Halloween:

But the absolutely best costume of all comes from FlyinFox.... Drum Roll Please....

Have a VERY SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Friday

Answering an Eternal Question!

Today is time to answer an eternal question!!!....

Why do women and men have 2 hands???

I don't know so much about picture number one in this house because I never use a credit card and rarely use the phone. As for picture number 2, well I see this daily in the house :) At least part of it is right **snicker**

Sorry guys but it rings so true! One hand on the Junk and the other on the Remote! I guess it would be a perfect world if the remote were shaped like a penis huh?

Wednesday

Pictures Make You Think Sometimes...

Here I was, at FlyInFox's Blog and he has this picture up....

Isn't it funny how sometimes seeing certain things can remind you of different things? Well seeing this picture along with what he wrote reminded me of an encounter I had about a year and a half ago.

Most of you who have visited my blog in the past know I use to work for a paint store. I loved that job!!! Mostly because it gave me a chance to deal with people directly and that is something I really enjoy.

Most of the people I met were very cool and always loaded with good stories to share. They would come in and hang out for sometimes an hour or more just to shoot the shit. It was fun! Well there was one guy who insisted on coming in that always made me want to run for the door. I can't recall his name but that is something I really never asked so whatever right?

Well let me describe this individual to you. First of all he smelled horribly! I am talking toxic rancid body odor. I would have called him PigPen but he was lacking the dirt cloud with every step he took. Secondly, he was always greasy. I seriously do not think this guy knew what a shower was let alone soap. As for a washing machine, well I think he was stuck in a fantasy world that did not believe in actually washing clothing. Very frightening!

For whatever reason this "thing" always felt the need to hit on me. And it wasn't just the comments he would make but it was the looks he would make and the fact whenever he wanted to talk he would get about 2 inches from my face and smile with his missing teeth and bad breath. (Crap... I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit!)

Anyway, the one thing that stuck out the most was this......

I don't really have a problem with body hair but this was ridiculous. It was like talking to Chewbacca! And he would always reach his arm around and rub it while he was talking to me. You would think he would wear a shirt to cover the carpet but instead he would wear those most ever attractive wife-beaters....

So there you have it. Thank you so much FlyInFox for hashing up old scary memories of what we woman want and what we tend to get :) I think I shall send you a cyber-asskicking!!!

Don't get confused, you are the one getting the kickin' in this pic :)

***snickering loudly***

Have a fantastic Night everyone!

Tuesday

Just Had To Share

So here it is Midnight and I felt the need to share the music video.. Nickelback's Rockstar....

I love this video.... In the immortal words of my Michael, It's Simple and fun at the same time! I love the fact they use celebrities and regular people to sing along with the words to their song :) Awesome Video!!!

In other words, I'm a little tipsy, having problems typing and I'm exhausted! :) Going to bed now people!!!

Now because I am a complete and total copy cat of Naughty Voyeur, here are some pictures of Ryan Reynolds... **wiping the drool from my mouth** I am thinkin' I am going to have to kidnap him just for a night! Ahhhhhhhhh..... Damn I am sad but who the fuck cares... Sorry Alanis Morrisette but it's just gotta be that way...

Oh yeah, I wanted to pimp an extremely cool site.. Onlinecinema.org! Check it out and you will love it!

Thursday

Movie Junkie

So finally one thing I have wanted to see has happened. I FINALLY got to see the 'Transformers Movie" and I loved it!!! My son saw it twice in the theater, the little rat that he is and Michael, along with his son's and father went to see in in July. Now I could have gone then but I made a choice to hang out with Michael's mom and have a girls night. We had a blast getting a little drunk on some wine and watching 'The Notebook'! Which is one of my all-time favorite movies by the way :)

Now that I have babbled endlessly because my head is pounding and believe it or not, I am still half asleep, I have to say, I LOVE THIS FREAKIN MOVIE!!! If you haven't seen it then you need to because you are seriously missing some awesome special effects.

I was never a fan of the cartoon but back in December I stumbled across the trailer for this movie on Comingsoon.net and shared it with several people. I knew this movie would be awesome and it was.

Now, I mentioned Comingsoon.net. If you have not ever been to this website, I suggest you check it out. They have a section displaying movies which will be coming out. And I am not talking a month of so before you see the commerical, I am talking years before they are scheduled to be released. It gives you a wonderful glimpse into some great movies you can look forward to watching.

I went there this morning and here is a sampling of movies coming out with links. Some of them even have trailers for you to watch...

I am such a movie junkie :)

Well I have gone on and on enough. Now I am still tired and my head still fucking hurts. I seriously want to crawl back in bed :)

Friday

To Feel Special

The hardest thing about being in a relationship is remembering to always keep the fire burning and alive. Always give that person a simple reminder that they are in your life because you want them there but most of all, because you love them.

Reminders are simple. They don't have to cost money. I am not talking about going out and buying presents like jewelry or roses. There are so many small things you can do which only require thought and everyone knows putting thought into something means so much more than buying something.

I love My Michael. Last night he sat down on the couch with me and painted my toenails. It made me feel so special and loved. It was a sweet and simple way of saying 'Hey! I love you!' What could be better than that?

He did a fantastic job too!!!

Remember, things done for someone with nothing more than your time and thought mean more to someone than anything else in the world. :)

Michael and I always try to do these types of things for each other. The countless love letters and Poetry we have written to each other speaks volumes. The millions of 'I Love You's' scribbled on a piece of paper and slipped to each other when they weren't expecting it could wallpaper a room. Once I even made him a word find filled with words representing the both of us. And how much did any of this cost??? NOTHING except time and energy :)
And one more thought, never forget to smile.....

Love is fantastic so never take it for granted! Always do the simple things and that love will last a lifetime and beyond....

Sunday

Curing Boredom on a Sunday Morning

So here it is on a Sunday morning and I am doing not much of anything spectacular. So why not just babble on here right?????

Yesterday we had our bonfire at my aunt's house and it was actually quite a bit of fun. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them all sorted out. There was lots of beer drinking and fishing going on. Not to mention the beautiful fire itself. All in all, it was a really good time.

This morning I had a revelation. Anyone that knows me understands how much I absolutely adore horror movies. Especially all of the old ones. So what did I do today? I sat down and created a desktop for the month of October. Halloween, afterall, is like Christmas to me.

So what do you think?? It's an ode to all of those cheesy movies I love so much. Eventually, I would love to have a room in my home filled with nothing but old movie posters. How cool would that be? I love the dramatic use of colors they used when creating these pieces of art.

Besides what is not to love in these old classics? Who cares about special effects when you have overacting at it's best. The faces! The screams of sheer terror! Damn I am starting to quiver just thinking about it and it makes me wanna dig out my collection and start watching :)

Check out this list of old classics I have:

  • 1959 - A Bucket of Blood
  • 1960 - Little Shop of Horrors
  • 1963 - The Terror
  • 1960 - The Wasp Woman
  • 1939 - The Gorilla
  • 1941 - The Devil Bat
  • 1939 - The Human Monster
  • 1941 - The Invisible Ghost
  • 1943 - The Ape Man
  • 1962 - Carvnival of Souls
  • 1940 - Chamber of Horrors
  • 1924 - The Last Man of Earth
  • 1932 - White Zombie
  • 1958 - House on Haunted Hill
  • 1961 - Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory
  • 1973 - Don't Look in the Basement

I found this on YouTube and thought everyone would enjoy. It's the original 1932 movie White Zombie staring Bela Lugosi who happens to be my all-time favorite horror movie actor! So get your popcorn, something to drink then kick back and become submersed!

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone!

Friday

Thank God...

Tis Friday.. Tis the end of a very long week!!! Thank God!!!

For us unholy bill collectors it's also the end of the business month which means only a few more hours to collect that money and put ourselves in the position of receiving that bonus check in October....

Thank God...

To celebrate I have ton of things on my list to do this weekend...

  • Go to a family Bon Fire out in the middle of the country. Hope to get so wasted that I forget what a shitty week at work this actually was. Have visuals of pushing those unpleasant cousins in while they are acting the fool and standing too close... **snicker** I am kidding you know!!! Or am I????
  • Sleep!!! I am going to sleep. How much am I going to sleep? Who cares as long as I am doing it!
  • Drink mucho mucho mucho... Time to crack open one of those cheap ass boxes of wine and get just hammered while listening to some awesome music.
  • Watch Michael do exactly what I am doing except he will be dancing. I will make sure to take some video or something cuz it's quite comical.
  • Watch the Chiefs game and pray they win again this week. And if they do start to suck, it's a good thing I have the Family Guy cartoon to fall back on...
  • Sleep somemore..
  • Watch some porn. Yeah that's right. I said watch porn. And while I am at it, I think I will write hustler a letter....

Life is Good!

And I must congratulate my Michael for going into the bosses and demanding more money because they gave it to him... That's why you are my hero!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!

Monday

Even Though...

I just came back from Aunt Jackie's blog and even though I wasn't tagged I thought doing this would be fun. It's called what's on your desktop.

So here is mine....

I love my desktop. To use the words of Michael, it's simple and clean. Blah Blah BLAH!!! Actually as much as it is that, I don't care. I really and truly love the picture. I love having pictures of people on my desktop especially anything with an Asian theme. My house is done the same way.

We use the new Vista and I love the way you can make the icon's look. It just makes everything look so "pretty"... Nice and Tidy... Oh God.. I am sounding way too much like Michael on this one. I am surprised I haven't thrown out the word ergonomic. Sorry Blu!!! **snicker**

I will tag some people here because I love seeing what everyone does have on their desktops... I'm sorry for those who hate being tagged. I for one, don't normally like it either but you know what?? Tough Titty Said The Kitty... Oh God.. What am I? 5 or something???

Mr. BluBloodUnlimited.. Yes I already know what you have, but no one else does :)

Mrs. NaughtyVoyeur.. Let's see what nastiness fills your screen.

The Ultimate Flyinfox.. I am seriously curious!

Buff My Scrotum.. I can only imagine :) And I am morbidly curious about yours too

Scarlett.. Red I imagine yours is pretty good since you make so many killer graphics

The Lone Beader.. Gotta see your's too...

I realized I tagged six but Blu doesn't really count on my list simply because we live together and I see his all of the time anyway. I just wanted to give him something to do...

For those of you who need some help here, this is how you capture your desktop, in its current condition mind you....

A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun.You can do a screen capture by: [1] Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key). [2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). [3] If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.For MAC users: Press [ Apple] [ Ctrl ] [ Shift ] and [ 3 ]

B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of icons. Things like that.

C. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.

D. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants.

Have fun! I can't wait to see them... And now I leave you with a picture of Michael and I from this weekend! We had such a good one :)

Oh How I Love Celebrities...

So last night I am watching some damn show before bed. It was Access Hollywood or something like that and they are talking about Denise Richards and the Charlie Sheen divorce battle. I usually ignore this type of stuff because who really gives a shit right?? Well when they started talking about phone calls made my Sheen to Richards and their content, it peaked my curiousity :)

Being the sad person I am I went to The Smoking Gun website and found the calls and the entire court transcript. Here are a few excepts of messages Sheen left of Richards voice mail...

"Yeah I just got Laura's letter regarding everything blah, blah, blah and I can't get ahold of my lawyer so I thought I would try to call you directly. Um, it's really fucking sad. It's really sad and I am really angry and I don't think it's fucking fair and I don't know what you're trying to do and I just umm so disappointed in you. You're such a disappointment. You're such a fucking asshole and if this time you want to fucking deal with each other, you know, you're saying one thing and then you do the other and it's just, you know, fuck you."

"Yeah, I just got your other email and I am a little confused because ahhhh you told me that was something you only told a couple of people and this and that and I just again you continue to be deceitful and mischeivous and sneaky and you're a fucking liar. Okay. You're a fucking liar so you know what it's like...fuck you. Okay, I hope you rot in fucking hell. You're a piece of shit fucking liar and I hope you rot in fucking hell. So fuck you. I hope I never fucking talk to you again you fucking cunt. Fuck you. You're a fucking coward and a liar and a fucking nigger alright so fuck you."

"Hey, I'm going to go home early so if you wanted to come back early then go ahead. I just hate to leave early and then you come home and then I hear from Laura in a letter that costs me you know five grand that you know I didn't let you know I was leaving early. So I gonna leave early. Okay? Dick face. That's what I gonna do. Goodbye."
This guy went on a 6 message rampage for 24 hours and they are all quite comical. I think he was on a binger and probably doesn't even remember making the calls to begin with.

Although, I am curious as to what she saw in him to begin with. He already had a rep for drugs and hookers. Sounds like prince charming to me... :)

Ahhhh... Hollywood love at its finest :)

The Blog World....

Lately, I have been doing quite abit of observing of the people around me. Not that I don't normally do that but it just seems as though I have noticed more and more and more. Know what I mean?

The blog world! Now maybe I am going to end up getting a few haters with these comments but I am willing to risk it to be quite honest with you. The internet is truly a great thing. It allows you to express yourself in ways you probably would never do except with some of your closest friends. I love being able to write my thoughts and feelings. Being able to vent when needed is a plus too. But here is what I don't get about blogging. How come there are people who actually think they 'KNOW' you from reading your blog??? Does anyone know what I mean?

There are actually people out there who consider you their 'best friend' when in fact they really don't have a clue as to who you are. Yes they may share your views on many things and enjoy reading the thoughts spilling forth from your brain but does that mean they know you? No it doesn't. I have encountered this a few times with this whole blogging thing. I have actually had people send me emails saying they are upset because I haven't been to their blogs and commented on their posts. And they assume because I haven't been around that something is wrong!!! Can't they assume that something might actually be right??? Can't they assume that I might actually be happy??? Can they not realize that I actually have a life outside of the blog world? And who cares anyway??? I mean if you are truly friends with someone, you share a life with them outside of blogging whether it be personal emails or phone calls or even seeing them on occasion right???

In a way it is sad. It tells me these particular people are unsatisfied with their lives outside of the "blogging" world. I will admit, when I first started blogging I was lonely as hell but I did not use my blog as a cure. I merely used it as an outlet. I didn't rely on my blog to heal what ailed me but a tool for my expressions and thoughts. It was my journal. It allowed me to vent in a different medium than I had before and it felt good but it was not my everything. It was not my world.

Now the internet has brought good things to my life. In fact, I met Michael from blogging. But it started off slowly. We didn't leave each other posts and automatically assume we were made for each other. It was a very slow process. In fact, it took 5 months before we actually even spoke to each other over a telephone and that was only after blogging, then emails and then instant messaging. But I chose that just as he did. WE chose that. It wasn't one sided. It wasn't one of us assuming the other felt the same. Does that make sense at all??? Yes Michael is my best friend. Yes he is my lover and yes we are meant for each other but we found that out along the way and not just with a comment or two.

I have a few actual friends who read my blog but these friends who I either hang out with in my "real life" or communicate with either by email or phone. NV has been my best friend since I was 21. I know her and she knows me. She doesn't get upset when I don't make comments on her blog and doesn't assume my world is in chaos (even though it usually is...**snicker**) when I don't leave her comments. I love her blog but I love talking to her even more. I love spending my time with her more than that.....

I will admit, there are some people whose blogs I read that I would love to meet one day. I wouldn't mind getting to know them outside the blog world but I would never assume they feel the same as I do.

I guess my point to this whole post is simply to tell people to relax. Take a breath. Enjoy the blogs for what they are and that is simply an outlet. A medium. Don't assume you know someone inside and out because of what you read. And don't assume someone is your 'friend' because you exchange comments on a blog. And don't ever forget that what I share with you in a blog post is everything you need to know about me. I am selective in what I share. I have secrets as we all do but that doesn't mean that because we are 'blog friends' I will let you in on my entire world. I will let you in if I choose to just as I hope you would too. It's a choice....

Remember the internet allows you to be anything you want. You can be yourself or you can be someone else and sometimes, it is hard to distinguish the difference between the two. Just because you may share someone's opinions, values or comments doesn't mean you have found your best friend or soulmate....Always keep that in mind....

FRIENDSHIP IS A PRICELESS GIFT
THAT CANNOT BE BOUGHT OR SOLD
BUT ITS VALUE IS FAR GREATER
THAN THE MOUNTAIN MADE OF GOLD
FOR GOLD IS COLD & LIFELESS
IT CAN NEITHER SEE NOR HEAR
& IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE
IT IS POWER LESS 2 CHEER--
IT HAS NO EARS 2 LISTEN
NOR HEART 2 UNDERSTAND
IT CANNOT BRING YOU COMFORT
OR REACH OUT A HELPING HAND
SO WHEN U ASK GOD FOR A GIFT
BE THANKFUL IF HE SENDS
NOT DIAMONDS, PEARLS OR RICHES
BUT THE LOVE OF REAL TRUE FRIENDS

I Am A Huge Slacker!!!

Okay, I realize I have been a huge slacker when it comes to blogging lately but I have just let so many things take up my time. Work... Family... Playing... and MySpace. Yes I said it.. MySpace!

I swore I would never do MySpace but as it happens so many friends and family members have pages so I had to create one. My user name is MisguidedChalice for those of you who have accounts. My account is set to private so you would have to send a request and let me approve you. Sorry but I decided to set that one up that way for a multitude of reasons which I will not go into here...

Now I am going to try and balance out the two. This should be interesting to say the least.

Michael and I had a wonderful Birthday!!! We ended up just eating at Red Lobster because of our infatuation and love of Seafood. I swear to God I could eat that stuff for the rest of my life and never grow tired of it.

The other night we attended my youngest sister's 30th Birthday Party. Talk about fun!!! Her husbands family rented out a bar for the night so we had the whole place to ourselves. The picture of Michael and I is from the party. About 40 people came, including my parents which blew me away considering how loud and smokey the place was. They aren't big drinkers and they quit smoking over 20 years ago so I was surprised to see them stay a good 5 hours. And lets not forget the music. No Air Supply was playing so I know my mother wasn't fond of any of it!! **snicker** Here are some pics from the party....

My sister Maggie and her husband Phil.

Maggies Cake... Yes its a Barbie Princess Cake.....

Michael and my sister Cindy

Me and my sisters...

Maggie and myself

My brother-in-law Doug.. He looks a little too comfy in the tiara.

Part of the aftermath. So many many many drinks!!!

Now I have to take a moment to apologize to NV!!! We were invited over to NV's house for a barbeque yesterday and because of my alcohol consumption the night before at the party, I did not make it. Why NV keeps me as a friend I will never know but I am glad she does. And she doesn't even charge me for it. That's right you heard me.. I DO NOT have to PAY her contrary to what anyone thinks! NV.. I am sorry!!! I didn't plan on drinking and being there as long as we did but it happened and I paid the price. Believe me on that one! Just know I love you and I will see you soon! I promise!!!

As for everything else in our lives, well, they are quite good. I still love Michael to death. My son has switched schools and is actually appearing to be having a good year. That makes me happy since he was having a rough go of it this time last year. It's kind of funny because he has my science teacher from 25+ years ago. And to think she remembers who I am. She told my son I was an excellent Science Student??!!! I can't say I remember that. After all, she is the teacher who put myself and another girl in her coat closet for talking in class too much!! **snicker** Can you believe that? I was actually in the closet.. LITERALLY!!! Too damn funny!! But I came out and I even passed her class so I guess it wasn't all that bad!

Okay I promise to be a better blogger... I won't post everyday but I will do my best to do a weekly post! Life is so busy anymore its hard to make the time.

Take care everyone and I hope you have a truly Fantabulous Day!

xoxo

Thank you for coming into my life and making all that much brighter :)

Now let's have a drink and get naked!!! **snicker**

Tuesday

Why????

Why is it that I am having a hard time with my Birthday this year? I mean turning 37 is not the end of the world right? It's not considered over the hill like 40 so why am I having a hard time with this?

Last year turning 36 was really no big deal but then again I had so many other things going on simultaneously in my life that I didn't have time to pay it much mind.

And for those of you who don't know, Blu's birthday is the day after mine and he will be 32.

Yes, everyone, if you do the math I am 5 years and 1 day older than my baby. I have come to terms with the fact I am a cradle robber. **snicker** Blu likes older women...**snicker snicker**

Blu made a comment one day last week about getting old and I thought, "yeah right!"

Anyway, so I did some looking around this morning and found out all of the Celebrities I share my birthday with. Check this out:
  • Lil' Romeo - A Rapper and Actor that I really can honestly say I have never seen.
  • Matthew Perry - Damn I loved Friends!
  • LeAnn Womack - Country Music Singer...
  • John Stamos - I am so old I actually watched him as Blackie Parrish on General Hospital
  • Adam Arkin - I had to look this one up. He is from Law and Order. I know the face now..
  • Peter Gallagher - And actor and singer
  • John Deacon - Who? Didn't know this one either. He is a motorcyclist.
  • Jill St. John - Actress
  • Willie Shoemaker - Stumped again! I looked it up and he is a jockey! Won 4 Kentucky Derby's!
  • Gene Roddenberry - Actor
  • Malcom Forbes - Publisher, Politician, Multi-Millionaire who started Forbes Magazine
  • Ogden Nash - American Poet
  • Orville Wright - Co-Inventor of the first successful airplane
  • Tipper Gore - We all know who she is!
  • William Jefferson Clinton - I miss him being President

I love that list. But what really cracks me up is who Tipper and Bill share a Birthday. Do you think they actually celebrated it together in the Whitehouse? You know he was inserting cigars into interns while she was trying to place a warning label across his penis???

August 19th has a nice list of people doesn't it???

Wanna know who shares your birthday? Click here!

Now I am off to work. Gotta make that money! Have a great day everyone!

I 'Heart' Lots of Stuff

It's been awhile since I have posted anything at all so I thought, What the hell....Do one now! Oh and I started a new blog, so I hope I am forgiven for not keeping this one up to speed. If you wanna check it out, click here: Nothing But Funny Commercials.

Does the world stop when someone doesn't post for awhile? Nope it doesn't. But I remember blogging at least once a day for months and having avid readers and then I stopped. I am still amazed at the amount of people who will still come to my blog even though I don't post alot anymore. So let me say, Thank You and I am sorry....

You know what? I 'Heart' Cooking. But lately it has been so ungodly hot that the last thing I want to do is turn on my oven. I am seriously having withdrawls too. I think Blu is going to wither away before long. ***sigh*** Poor guy. I feel like I have been neglecting him. But if I tried to turn the oven on he would probably yell at me because of the electricity bill. Can't blame him there..... Oh no! A Revelation! I need to go to Culinary Arts School...

I 'Heart' Popcorn. Today I am craving popcorn. Really freakin' buttery popcorn from a movie theater. Damn... I think my mouth is actually watering. How sad is that?? Why can't I have one of those huge theater popcorn machines here at home? I would be in heaven! Oh and I would have a completely enormous ass. Look at me? I have lost a ton of weight and now I am talking about having something like that in my house... SAD!!! But I still want one Damn It!

I 'Heart' Movies. So now I am having a love affair with Blockbuster. We signed up for the Blockbuster Online and I am officially obsessed and in love. We have movies all of the time. It's so cool only paying $15 a month and getting to watch a ton of movies. What could be better? New stuff. Old stuff. Doesn't matter. We never pay for anything. They send them to us and we take them to the store for more free ones and while we are watching those they send us more. Do you have any idea how cheap this service is? I mean you walk into a Blockbuster and just to rent a movie is $4.95. Gimme a break! Damn I love this service! Did I say that I love this service???

I 'Heart' Creepy Movies. I realize that is pretty much what I said above but I have to tell you, we have watched some rather intense movies lately. If you have not heard of Hard Candy, I suggest you watch it. Well if you are into psychological thrillers and crazy people. Ever since I saw this movie a week ago, I can't quit telling people about it. This movie will take you to a place you never imagined you could go. The only thing I will say about the movie because I don't want to give it away is this: Internet Predator and a 14 year old girl! Yikes!

I 'Heart' Swimming Pools. Literally right outside our door is an inground pool! Do you know how much I love that? We did a lot of swimming the last few days. Especially since its been so damn hot. I mean today alone the temperature is supposed to be 99 degrees with a heat index of 110 degrees. Crap. Who needs a stove when I can go outside and cook on the sidewalk?? Now watching Blu, my son and my nephew doing crazy dives off the side of the pool is fun!!! It's all about who can make the biggest splash while posing. I need to take my camera next time. Everything from the Captain Morgan to the Model or the Monk. Yep, I need to pictures.

I 'Heart' Funny Stuff. I am refering to some of the forwards I get in my email. Check these out! This is called 'Time's When You Should Never Hyphenate Your Name'

Now it's time to get ready for work!!! Have a most wonderful day everyone!
